How Long Have You Been With PRC?

I’ve been with PRC since January 2019. I moved to Newfoundland with my family that same month and year. Prior to this, I was part of a running group in Houston, Texas where we lived for six years. And before that, I was with another running group in Pickering, ON.

What Made You Start Running?

In 2010, I began running as a way to get in shape after having two children. What began as a pastime turned into a passion. My running journey started in Pickering, ON for two years, then Houston, Texas for another six years, and finally in January 2019 my family and I moved to Newfoundland where the running journey to this day continues with PRC.

What is your best/worst run?

My best run was the 2018 Tunnel Light Marathon, Seattle Washington when I achieved my Boston Qualifying time. Unfortunately the “cushion time” required for the in-person Boston Marathon was 6+ minutes, so I was unable to do my victory lap. My worst run actually saw my fastest finish time at the 2013 Toronto GoodLife Marathon. I ran too fast, also suffered an injury on the course, experienced delirium and fell at the finish line. More ego bruised than injury but many valuable lessons learned at that race!

Favourite running shoe?

Saucony is my favourite but sometimes as each model gets tweaked I go to Brooks. Presently wearing Saucony Ride 17.

How do you track your runs?

I’ve used Garmin watches since 2010 and track online with Strava. Presently enjoying Garmin 245 Music.

Do you have a current running goal?

My current running goal is to get back to the level of physical fitness that I let go of when 2020 happened (life happens!). I plan to train and complete what will be my 15th full marathon. The ultimate goal is to qualify for Boston again.

Best training tip you can provide/received?

Remember to take the time to enjoy this sport and have fun with it!  Honour where you’re at as a runner and never compare yourself to others. This is an individual sport and it’s you against yourself. There will always be someone slower and faster than you. Runners have an amazing
