March 30, 2020 - COVID-19 Update
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update
UPDATED March 30, 2020
Dear Members,
The spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has introduced much uncertainty in our day to day lives. We are all runners at heart and want to maintain our hard-won training and fitness.
The PRC Board shares our deepest sympathies with everyone impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. These are difficult and unprecedented times, and most of us are dealing with major changes in our lives. We truly understand the physical and mental challenges people are coping with at this time, but we also understand that as a community organization, PRC has to show leadership as well. Our board members are here to help if you need someone to talk to - we are all in this together.
Based upon the most recent public health information available at this time, especially with the emergence of community transmission of COVID-19 in Newfoundland & Labrador, running alone is the best option. While we are in no way policing what our individual members do, the PRC Board wants to convey to our members that it remains our position that you should continue to consider solo runs and it is imperative that you are diligent about social distancing. Considering this, to help mitigate the health risk to our members and community members at large, Paradise Running Club will continue the postponement of all group runs until further notice.
As the days progress, we are planning to provide ways we can continue to be there for you and our resilient PRC members. The Board has been considering some virtual challenges for our members, and will roll out some ideas for April month in short order.
The key take-away here is you can keep running - just adapt your routine a little. Taking the right precautions is as much about protecting others in the community as it is about making sure you stay safe. You can still train, and you can still run. Your running club and your run groups will still be here after all this passes. Please do your due diligence in helping keep you and everyone else safe.
Further information on the current situation in Newfoundland and Labrador can be found at https://www.gov.nl.ca/covid-19/.
Sincerely,
Paradise Running Club Board of Directors
